The Sound
of an Angel's wings
A beautiful
angel
Flies through the night
Passing from this world
She took her flight
Leaving behind others below
Never knowing how much
It did hurt them so
As her new nightlight
The stars now do glow
The clouds her new pillows
Much lighter than snow
Beauty surrounds her
Made with God his own hands
For she has entered
The most promised of lands
Gentle breezes I feel blowing
Across my waiting cheek
Are gentle kisses from her
So precious and sweet
In heaven she lives now
And sings in the choir
To someday join her
is the greatest desire.

Kelly Vieira was my sister- in- law . My wife
Pat’s oldest sister. We weren’t overly close ,I am closer to Scott her
husband .But I did enjoy Kelly’s company and always looked forward to seeing
her, she had a quiet resolve about her and was not always easy to get to know
, not that she was stuck up or unapproachable just that she was quiet and
quiet to people unless she had something to say to you. .
I always
admired Kelly as having classic beauty and charm and a gracefulness about her
and although she wasn’t easy for me to get to know, you would have to be blind
not to see what kind of person she was and what a kind person she was. She
wasn’t the life of the party but certainly knew how to give one and I never
missed one of hers on purpose. The woman could cook and I love to eat. As I
look back on it all now this could be the link we did share but no matter
there was so much more to her than that.
Her children
and husband always came first putting herself second .I know a lot of people
say things like that but she lived and loved it on a daily basis. She and
Scott were married at an early age and after being a divorced member of that
club myself I know first hand how difficult it can be to stay married all
those years but they did it and that alone was impressive but what really
impressed me was how it was done always moving forward it seemed only looking
back to measure the distance they covered together. Kelly cut hair at J.C
Penny while the kids {Chandree and Crystle} were young but she also found
time to take care of Crystle take Chandree to Softball practice never missed a
game I’m sure and in the fall Cheerleading .all the time going to school
nights to become a physical Therapist and all the while Crystle was growing
up too and had activities of her own especially basketball, crystle is a top
notch player for West Warwick high and made her mom and dad both proud of her
accomplishments and achievements but Kelly is the true achiever here going
through all she did to get to where she wanted to go and never missing a beat
with her family she truly was a success .
Finally she
and Scott bought a house .Its was a nice house in a nice neighborhood I
helped them to do some repairs and paint before they moved in as I am a
handyman of sorts Kelly couldn’t thank me enough she gave me a card thanking
me , that’s the way she was.
Even though
their life wasn’t perfect anyone would have loved to be them their life was
secure together, with c3rystle graduating this year it was time for Kelly and
Scott .Then this tragedy. All I can say is If this is part of a larger plan
than I’m sitting to close to the screen because I don’t get it,.I don’t think
I ever will.
At
Kelly’s funeral my wife read a reading from proverbs as a eulogy to her sister
and through the tears and sobbing the last passage stood out to me ,
It read :
“Many women have
done excellently, but you surpass them all” Charm is deceitful, and beauty is
vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised .Give her a share in the
fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the city gates .
She will always be
remembered fondly and missed sadly by me .
