Henri D. Emery was born Feb. 7, 1950.  He was the youngest of 6 born to William and Marie-Jean Emery of Central Falls, RI.

Henry was a Boy Scout for 7 years, at St. Mathew’s Church in Central Falls, RI, achieving the Life Scout Rank, and continued on with his Scout Troop as its adult leader for two more years.  He was also a student Clown, Magician and Santa Claus at various children’s parties and enjoyed making children laugh.  He was also very interested in and involved with a variety of craft designs and construction.

Graduating high school from Sacred Heart Academy in Central Falls, RI in 1968, Henri attended Fitchburg State Teacher’s College in Fitchburg, MA for a short period then transferred to the Computer Processing Institute of Rhode Island from which he graduated as a Computer Programmer.

Other professions included teaching 5th grade to Sacred Heart School children in Sharon, MA, Security Guard for RI Bureau of Investigation and Protection, Guard for Pinkerton Security Service, Owner/Operator of the Belmont Diner in Pawtucket, RI, Owner/Operator of G&H Catering Co in Cumberland, RI and, Owner/Operator of H. D. Emery Jewelry in Pawtucket, RI.

Family was very important to Henri.  He took it onto himself to generate the maternal Leblanc family tree, dating it as far back as the 1600s.  He was never happier than when the whole Leblanc families would gather for their annual get-together, where as many as 200+ would be present.

Very community conscious Henri ran for the office of Councilman for the 5th district of Central Falls, RI, and was a member of the Central Falls Auxiliary Police, Knights of Columbus, Swinging Squares Square Dance Club and Sacred Heart Alumni Association.

Henri was husband to Gail Harrop, Stepfather to Michael Harrop and Father to Henri II and Christine Emery.  He died at the young age of 39, on January 3, 1990 following a two-year battle with ALS.
